Ebay MyWorld: Ebays Wandel zum MySpace für Erwachsene geht weiter
Selbst wenn eine Shoppingplattform zur Entscheidung gelangt ist, dass Social Shopping Komponenten Sinn machen, dann bleibt immer noch die Frage, wie stelle ich meine Plattform Schritt für Schritt so um, dass ich meine bestehende Nutzerbasis nicht überfordere, geschweige denn, vergrätze.
Gut zu beobachten ist das schrittweise Vorgehen gerade bei Ebay MyWorld. Die persönlichen Nutzerprofile werden ab nächster Woche komplett umgestellt und noch vor Weihnachten werden weitere soziale Komponenten für Kaufempfehlungen, Shoppingtipps, etc. eingeführt.
In der Ankündigung heißt es:
"Starting Next Week - My World pages replace old Member Profile pages
My World pages have been available since late September, and many members have started customizing theirs. We're pretty excited about the interesting and creative pages that people are making with our new tools!We're ready now to move into our 2nd phase of this launch, which will make My World pages available wherever you see a clickable UserID.
Starting next week, My World pages will replace the old member profile pages. Soon when you click on a UserID anywhere on the site, you will go to that person’s custom My World page -- or if they have not customized their page yet, to a default view for that person."
Gleichzeitig sind Social Shopping Komponenten in Vorbereitung, die dann in den nächsten Wochen freigeschaltet werden:
"New My World features and improvements
Looking ahead, in the next couple of weeks we will launch a new My World module called Favorite Searches & Sellers. This module will let you share your Favorite Searches, Sellers, and Stores with the Community on your My World page. Once the module is available, simply choose to add it to your My World page to display your Favorites."
Ebay wandelt sich Schritt für Schritt zum "MySpace für Erwachsene". Diese Entwicklung kommt alles andere als überraschend. Exciting Commerce hat Ebays Wandel zum Social Network schon Anfang Juni vorhergesagt:
"Für Ebay kann die Jagd auf MySpace & Co. jetzt beginnen. Eine Woche früher als erwartet ist seit kurzem die Ebay Blogging Community online"
Interessant ist, wie wenig sich diese (im Gegensatz zu Ebay Express) wirklich spektakuläre Entwicklung in der medialen Berichterstattung niedergeschlagen hat. Offensichtlich braucht es auch hier wieder vollendete Tatsachen (bzw. eine offizielle Pressemitteilung).
